District Cooling Operational Data

What are needed Data of DC :

Some of the important data which should be provided as long as it is

recorded.

- Hourly based heat load (Ton/hr)

- Power Consumption ( kW.hrs/Ton.hr)

- Water Consumption ( Imp Gal/Ton.hr)

- Heat Losses ( % of generated in the plant)

- Generated Chilled water supply Temp (CWST)

- Temp approaching each facility ( CWST-delivery point at ETS)

- ETS recorded approaches ( both at CWST and at CWRT)

- Returned Chilled water temp ( CWRT-delivery point at ETS)

- Hourly based heat rate for each end user ( Sq.ft/Ton)

- Peak Load Determination ( needed to adjust the Contracted Cap)

- Losses at Delivery Point facilities (ETS)

- Heat gain impacts on Delta T

- Secondary side ( DCP side) flow rates at different Heat Load and different Delta T

- Delta T on Customer side at ETS

- Consumption Data ( based on corrected BTU wiring )

How much useful is the data

The above list of data is important for few sectors :

- Authorities

- HVAC Industry

- Customer

Why it is important to the DC Customer/End User

It is the  right of the Customer to make sure that his BTU is correctly reading his/her consumption data ;otherwise , there is a chance that his/her : - Consumption might be jacked up with wrong values  - Capacity , or Contracted Capacity , might not be corrected according to the realistic peak load . It is the BTU meter whose average reading during the peak hours that determine the Customer actual Capacity

Why DC Data is useful for the HVAC Industry

The DC data could improve the knowledge of Consultants and Contractors on how much heat load is expected from different Building's types at different times of the year . This will shave the oversizing approach that many tends to keep

Why DC data is so important to authorities

DC data can assess :

- If any further investment is needed to promote the business

- Estimate the size of Service Corridor that would be needed to accommodate the DC pipe network

- Regulate the industry so that the Customers/End Users are not trapped under the monopoly-nature business of service.

- Secure Customer/End User interests and properties under extreme conditions where the service is halted or disconnected or went out

- Manage the Claims raised by Customers/End Users in case the Quality/Quantity of cooling felt below the standards .
